If the pedal has right to left movement, it's likely the brake pedal is bouncing when hitting bumps. I found this to be my problem when nothing else could be found. The fix? When making tight turns in reverse and sometimes forward, I get a clunk/popping sound from the front of the car, it can also be felt. Jack up the front end, remove the front wheels. Check and make sure the sway bar end links are tight. The end links are what connect the end of the sway bar to the strut. So much that the crossmember witch is also held by those three bolts had chewed it`s holes to oval shape. I tightened the bolts and the clunk went away for a while. This happened twice. You can add two large "o-rings" to take up any slack in the bushing of the subframe and eliminate the clunking. You will need two o-rings and two new bolts. I've replaced shocks/struts at all 4 corners, replaced front strut mounts, replaced sway bar end links, replaced sway bar bushings, replaced inner tie rods and replaced tie rod ends. All of these items were clearly worn out... but none of them were the cause of the front end rattle/chatter/clunking at low speed. I have a front end clunk/clank that only happens on bumpy roads at low (less than 20 mph) speeds. Seems like it is coming from the left side but I know that sometimes noises can be deceiving. Brakes were done about 5k ago and control arm bushings were done about 8k ago. Since, I have replaced all ball joints, tie-rods, pitman and idler arm, and sway bar end links... oh and a steering box that the shaft was falling out of (that was like $180, I think) Still have the clunk. At low speeds, on certain roads, it sounds like the front end is falling off. My odyssey (get it?): 120k, having struts replaced. Mechanics (two) could not locate or eliminate sound. Replaced end links too. Mechanic checked caliper bolts. Sound was muffled, came back over time. Mar 22, 2017 · I had front end clunk/rattle/loosenes at low speed over bumps also. I found out the 3 bolts holding the strut tower assembly were loose. So much that the crossmember witch is also held by those three bolts had chewed it`s holes to oval shape. I tightened the bolts and the clunk went away for a while. This happened twice.
